The English Apple Man takes a look back at 2015

The English Apple Man website celebrated the sixth anniversary in August...........there are now more than 320 Journals on-line!

 

Today - New Year's Day 2016 - The English Apple Man takes a look back over 2015 with a selection from each month of the year.........

 

Looking back to the Journal for 23rd January 2015 - A look at the challenges of Organic Apple & Pear Growing

 

The Journal for 13th February reported on the 2015 BIFGA Technical Day at Dale Hill Golf Club

 

In March the Journal for 6th March covered the 2015 Under 40's Conference in Benelux

 

The Journal for 24th April featured a two row recycling LIPCO orchard sprayer demonstration at Farmcare

 

May produced some indifferent weather at blossom time - the NFU / BEST Blossom Walk was abandoned in favour of a tour of Cottage Farms new Packhouse at August Pitts farm at Horsmonden

 

In June that enemy of fruit growers; 'hail' raised its ugly head the Journal for 12th June looked at some of the damage caused...

 

A lot going on in July, but the highlight for The English Apple Man was the visit to Peake Fruit Ltd reported in the Journal for 17th July

 

August celebrated the sixth anniversary of The English Apple Man Journal for 14th August 2015 with LINKS to August 14th 2009 and an account of my visit to Lake Constance.

 

In September the annual Gala Club pre-season 'get together' took place at Sean Charlton's farm reported in the Journal for 11th September

 

October is the month when the top fruit industry gathers at The Kent County Show Ground for The National Fruit Show reported in the Journal for 16th October along with a story about Apple growing in The Himalayas....

 

November is not just about Guy Fawkes - The English Apple Man took 'a trip down memory lane' in the Journal for 6th November

 

And so to December where the Journal for 18th December illustrated the importance of recruitment to our fruit industry and in particular the efforts of Douglas and Estera Amesz to ensure an ethical and comprehensive approach to recruiting from Romania & Bulgaria.

 

Next week The English Apple Man will look forward to the prospects for 2016......
